Our educators thoughts on the Animals range

Animal figures are often the first tools children use for sorting and classification—grouping by size, colour, habitat, or family. This is early scientific thinking in action. As language develops, these figures become characters in complex narratives, allowing children to explore the natural world from their living room floor.

When we select animal figures, realism and stability are key. Children can spot inaccuracies, so we look for correct markings and proportions. Crucially, the figures must stand up easily on their own. There is nothing more frustrating for a child setting up a 'zoo' or 'farm' than animals that constantly fall over, so we test the balance of every brand we stock.
