Our educators thoughts on the Tools and Workbenches range

This category is critical for fine motor development, specifically the rotational action required for using screwdrivers and wrenches. This is the same motion used for opening jars, turning doorknobs, and eventually writing. Beyond the physical skills, it teaches process and planning—you have to measure and align before you can build.

Our vetting process focuses on realistic function. A toy hammer should have enough weight to feel satisfying (without being dangerous), and nuts and bolts must thread together smoothly. If the threads stick or cross easily, it leads to frustration rather than skill building. We prefer wooden sets for their durability and the realistic resistance they offer during construction.
