Thick cardboard pieces lock together with a satisfying press to complete a rocket scene.

🧩 16 chunky pieces: a manageable step up from peg puzzles that keeps three-year-olds challenged without frustration.
🚀 Rocket-shaped box: stores the pieces and doubles as a display piece on the bedroom shelf.
🖐️ Easy to grip: thick cardboard pieces suit small hands to hold, turn and press together.
🎨 Visual matching: detailed illustrations encourage children to scan for the colours and shapes that fit.

The Educator's Note

Sixteen pieces is the step between peg puzzles and 24-piece jigsaws: enough interlocking to build hand-eye coordination without losing a three-year-old halfway through.
Thick cardboard pieces are easy for small hands to grip and turn, so children can concentrate on where each piece fits rather than on holding it.
The rocket-shaped box gives the puzzle a home on the shelf, so children can pack away and display their finished work themselves.

There is a real moment of pride when a child presses the final piece into this rocket puzzle. The 16 chunky pieces give three-year-olds enough challenge to stay engaged without tipping into frustration. It is the natural next step after wooden peg puzzles, building the spatial reasoning and visual matching skills used in early maths.

Also available in a great value bundle

This puzzle suits early learners ready for a step up.

Children aged 3 to 4 years moving on from wooden peg puzzles.
Space-loving kids who enjoy a quiet, focused activity.
Parents wanting a durable puzzle that handles daily use.

The Next Step in Puzzle Play

Moving on from simple inset puzzles is a major milestone. This 16-piece set is the bridge: the pieces are chunky enough for small hands to hold, yet each one needs careful turning and lining up before the edges interlock. That is hand-eye coordination at work.

Building Spatial Awareness

As they rotate pieces to find the right fit, children learn to read a small detail, such as a star or a fin, and work out where it sits in the larger picture. That spatial awareness underpins the shape and position work they meet in early maths.

Made for Independent Play

The rocket-shaped box holds the pieces after play, so children can pack up and display it themselves. The thick cardboard is made to handle repeated assembly. Once 16 pieces feels easy, 24-piece puzzles are the logical next step.
