Painting, folding and gluing in one kit
This craft kit hands children a real model-making project. They paint the wooden window panels, press out illustrated cardboard sheets, then glue and fold each piece into furniture and accessories for a tiny home. The result is a small world they built themselves, and that shapes how they play with it afterwards.
The work is detailed. Precision tweezers hold small parts steady, and a fine-tip glue tube gives them control over where each dab lands. Twisting the pipe cleaners and handling thread and felt builds the finger strength and control used for neat handwriting and craft work at school.
Building the character
Olive, the panda of the set, is assembled from a wooden head, two ears, pipe cleaners and felt, with a cardboard tool to help shape the body. The pipe cleaner stage is the trickiest part, and an 8 year old may want a grown-up for a hand early on. It is useful practice in following multi-step instructions and working through a fiddly step rather than skipping it. By 10 or 11, most children build the whole kit on their own and are ready to move on to other Djeco Mi House designs or more detailed model-making.
A finished world that fits in your hand
Once complete, the house closes over its contents, with the character, furniture and accessories tucked inside. Measuring approximately 14.5 cm x 16.5 cm x 5 cm when closed, it slots onto a bookshelf or into a backpack without taking over a room. Open it up and it becomes a small stage for storytelling.
The included step-by-step booklet and video tutorial let children from 8 years work independently, which suits quiet weekend afternoons and rainy-day sessions. Paint colours are the child's own, so no two finished houses look alike. It is the right next step for a child who has outgrown simple craft packs but is not ready for hobby-grade model building.
