Seeing that 1/2, 0.5 and 50% are the same amount
Most children can say that a half is bigger than a quarter. The jump comes when the same half turns up as 0.5 in one worksheet and 50% in the next. This flip chart puts those forms in front of them together, so they can flip, compare and watch the values match. It has four sets of flips, double-sided, covering equivalent fractions, percentages and decimals. Each set uses varied graphic representations, so a child sees the same quantity drawn more than one way. That repeated pairing is how recognising equivalence moves from memorised facts to real understanding.
Easy to set up, easy to put away
It stands up on its own, so both hands stay free for pencil work or for flipping. When the session is done, it folds flat. You can keep it in a homework drawer, slide it into a school bag or store it on a classroom shelf. It is also silent and needs no batteries. That makes it a calm choice for solo practice, or for a parent sitting beside a child who is stuck on converting between fractions, decimals and percentages.
Where it fits as they grow
At around five to seven, children use it to see how halves, quarters and tenths relate to each other. By the upper primary years, it becomes a quick self-check when they are working through conversions and want to confirm an answer before moving on. The same chart works at both stages, so it keeps earning its place on the desk. For more ways to build number sense, browse our Literacy & Numeracy range.
